Experienced in location sound mixing

As a location sound mixer I have been in the field for 15 years. I have hard won experience on documentaries, natural history, reality TV, commercials, IMAX and union TV / Features. A member of IATSE 891 Sound and am a owner / operator for union and non union work of all budgets.

Equipment

I have complete Sound Devices and Zaxcom packages and own enough gear to full fill obligations for large productions. I am one of the few in Vancouver to take advantage of Zaxcom’s full ecosystem. Zaxcom is a leader in production audio with 3 engineering Emmy’s and 1 Academy Sci-Tech Award and is one of the longest running brands in the industry. Their ecosystem stands out through its fully integrated, closed-loop digital wireless workflow with built-in transmitter backups, remote parameter control, and the proprietary MARF recording format that prevents data corruption.

Remote locations

I specialize in extreme and remote locations with a high degree of ability as a ropes rigger and arbourist. I can operate snow mobiles and am proficient at difficult heli exits and have Helicopter Rope Suspension Training (HRST). I am a proficient skier, snowboarder, rock climber, alpinist, kayaker, surfer, mountain biker and free diver. For 15 years (before my film career) I was a professional rock climber.

Passion for sound

My passion is documentary film, especially films that make the world a better place for us humans and the natural world. Since this kind of work requires being in the field in remote locations I will consider wearing more hats.

Hats, not just a sound guy

I regularly double as second camera, stills, 1st AD and have extensive experience with GoPros, Drones, Cable Cams, Remote Heads, Dollys, dual operating and for adventure film specifically – Directing.

Where location means more than Home

My home is Squamish, BC Canada and am available for Vancouver, Whistler and Pemberton without additional cost. I love to travel the world and have Carnet ready.
